The Citrus High Indoor Percussion enSemble (a.k.a. CHIPS) was formed in 2009 to introduce the Citrus High School Band members to another performance venue that was, until then, unheard of in Citrus County. In 2009, we started a concert percussion line and performed “Beethoven’s Last Night”, excerpts from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra CD by the same title & received a Bronze Medal at the Florida Federation of Colorguard’s “Circuit Championships”. In 2010, we set our focus on becoming a marching line. After performing an original production entitled “Looking Glass Wars: A Darker Side of Wonderland” at Circuit Championships, we placed 6th in Scholastic marching class AA. Our goal is to put on a show that is both entertaining & challenging to the students, physically as well as mentally. We hope to eventually work our way to Dayton, Ohio for the WGI Indoor Percussion Competition.
We will be announcing information about the 2010/11 season in the upcoming months, but until then if you have any questions regarding Winter Percussion please contact John Basilio at gilleon3@yahoo.com, or Band Director Brian York at yorkb@citrus.k12.fl.us.
