The foundation and driving force of the instrumental arts program takes place during the late fall and spring semesters through student’s performance in wind band ensembles. Our staff focuses on increasing each student’s musicianship while creating valuable aesthetic musical experiences through the performance of high-quality literature.
The concert season is the most important part of the year, in terms of developing musical abilities. The Citrus High School Concert band is open to all students of Citrus High School, and is a pre-requisite for membership in the CHS Jazz Ensemble, or C.H.I.P.S (Indoor Percussion Ensemble). During the class periods within the school day students will work on Instrumental Techniques and Musicianship. As with the Marching Band, most full ensemble Concert Band rehearsals will take place twice a week after school.
We will study Traditional and Contemporary Band Literature throughout the school year and perform approximately 4 concerts. All performances are open to the community, and are free of charge.
In addition to the full concert band, students will participate in chamber groups of like instruments in order to improve individual musicianship. Students are encouraged to audition for the All-State band in the early fall, as well as perform for the FBA Solo and Ensemble festival in the spring.
